Lost keys will no longer require you to go to the expense and inconvenience of replacing cylinders in order to prevent a serious breach of your security, because you can simply delete lost keys. CyberKeys feature a unique electronic ID, preventing duplication. Although two keys can be programmed alike, each one leaves its own unique record within the system. Keys can be assigned a begin date and an expiration date. This means keys can be issued before they begin working, and can be set to expire at a particular time in the future. Setting short-term expiration dates on keys is an excellent way to minimise risk due to lost or stolen keys.
CyberKeys are programmed with access privileges for each user, detailing what locks it can open and when. A single key can open over 3,000 locks. An audit record of all events is stored in both the locks and the keys. Each time a key is used at a lock, a record of the lock ID, date, and time is stored in the key, and a record of the key ID, date, and time is stored in the lock. The key stores up to 3900 audit records of the most recent access events, and the lock stores the most recent 1100 access events.

The standard CyberKey is an electronic key that is used to operate CyberLocks. Every CyberKey is made of durable nylon-based plastic with a replaceable tip. It houses battery status information as well as providing audible tones indicating access, no access, and communication. The CyberKey has an encrypted memory containing its authorisations, and an audit trail of access events. The CyberKey communicates with the management software through a CyberLock communication device.

The Extra Durable Rechargeable CyberKeyis contains a rechargeable battery. Indicator lights show battery status. The battery can be charged when placed in a recharging station or any communication device that also acts as a CyberKey recharging station. The CK-RXD key communicates to the software either through the tip when placed in a communication station, or by making an infrared connection to an IR device. The battery can also be recharged when placed in a recharging station or any communication device that also acts as a CyberKey recharging station.

The CyberKey Blue is contains Bluetooth technology. This key can be used in combination with a BlackBerry® phone to be updated and communicate with the software in the field. The battery of the CyberKey Blue is rechargeable.
