The short answer: a card reader system needs wiring, power, and usually a network connection at every door. That infrastructure, not the reader itself, is where the money goes. Where card reader costs come from

A card reader install is a construction project. Each opening typically needs the reader, an electric strike or maglock, a control panel, power, and cable runs back to that panel, plus the labor to pull wire through walls and ceilings. In an old building, a remote site, or a leased space, that wiring gets difficult, disruptive, or flat-out impossible. And every added door repeats the cost.

How CyberLock removes that cost

CyberLock replaces the mechanical cylinder inside your existing lock hardware. Over 430 cylinder designs cover doors, padlocks, cabinets, gates, and traffic cabinets. It needs no wiring and no power run to the door: the electronic key powers the classic cylinder, while the Bluetooth and NFC versions use a long-life internal battery (two to five years). Each key carries its holder’s permissions and schedules, and both the key and the lock record every opening and every attempt.

The result: adding access control to a door takes minutes, not a construction crew. Securing a remote gate costs the same as securing an office door. Our customers have used this on subway infrastructure, electrical substations, and water facilities where running wire made no financial sense.

Can one key open many locks? Yes. One CyberKey opens every lock its holder is authorized for, and nothing else.

What happens when a key is lost? Deactivate it from the software. Unlike a metal master key, a lost CyberKey doesn’t force you to rekey the building.
