Updated October 2026 Most vending operators looking at electric latch systems are trying to fix a key control problem, not a door hardware problem. An electric latch system replaces the latch assembly on each machine. An electronic lock cylinder replaces only the cylinder inside the T-handle or plug lock you already have. Both can tell…

Updated October 2026 A lock with an audit trail is a lock that writes down every time someone opens it, or tries to. Each entry records which key was used, which lock it touched, the date and time, and whether access was granted or denied. A mechanical lock can’t do this. Anyone with a copy…

FlashLock is a keyless lock that opens using light. You hold your phone screen against the face of the lock, the screen flashes a coded pattern, and if your access is valid the lock flashes back and opens. No app to install. No wiring to run. No power at the door. No key to lose.…

A CyberKey is a programmable electronic key that carries a person’s access permissions inside the key itself. It looks roughly like a normal key. It behaves nothing like one. When it touches a lock, three things happen in about a second. The key powers the lock. The lock and key verify each other. Access is…

Electronic Lock Security: How Safe Are Electronic Locks, Really? Updated June 2026 by the TEC Solutions team. Electronic lock security is strong when the system encrypts the link between key and lock, keeps an audit trail, and lets you revoke a lost key in software. Done right, an electronic lock is harder to defeat than…

Updated May 2026. Written by the TEC Solutions team, a CyberLock integrator serving utilities, municipalities, and commercial facilities for over 20 years. To install access control in an existing building, you choose between two paths: rip out your locks and run wire to every door, or retrofit the cylinders you already have. For most facilities,…

Updated May 2026. Written by the TEC Solutions team, a CyberLock integrator serving utilities, municipalities, and commercial facilities for over 20 years. Electronic locks are more secure than regular keys because every entry is tied to a named user, every key can be revoked in software, and every cylinder records an audit trail of who…

The Network Security Problem That Nobody Talks About Every connected lock in your building creates a potential entry point for cyberattacks. Offline access control systems eliminate this vulnerability entirely by keeping locks disconnected from your network infrastructure. Cloud-first access control vendors promote connectivity as a feature, but connectivity is also exposure. When every lock has…

The Challenge: NYC Buildings That Cannot Support Traditional Access Control Most wireless access control NYC systems still require power at every door, network connections, and extensive cable runs through walls. In New York City’s dense urban environment, this creates problems that traditional integrators cannot solve affordably. Pre-war office buildings, landmarked properties, and transit infrastructure present…

Facility managers and security directors evaluating access control systems in New Jersey are being pitched cloud-based platforms at nearly every turn right now. Brivo. Avigilon Alta. Kisi. These systems are well-funded, well-marketed, and right for certain facilities. For a significant portion of the institutional and commercial buildings that organizations actually operate across New Jersey, they…

Most access control systems start with the same assumption: that you can run cable. For facility managers and security directors operating in New York City, that assumption fails more often than it holds. Pre-war office buildings in Midtown where any structural penetration requires board review. Landmarked properties where wall work triggers a preservation commission process.…

What problem do #2 keys create for traffic cabinet security? #2 keys are copied, shared, and untracked. Anyone with a #2 key can open a cabinet with no record. You cannot prove who opened the cabinet, when, or why. That is the core risk. How CyberLock upgrades traffic cabinets without wiring CyberLock retrofits the existing…

Securing remote facilities presents a unique challenge. Utility sites, pump stations, substations, telecom shelters, and infrastructure yards often lack reliable power or network access. Most traditional access control systems are not designed to handle these conditions. You need more than a padlock. You need accountability, control, and flexibility, without the infrastructure. Why Traditional Systems Fall…

They need security that combines key control with full access control, without wiring, cloud dependency, or high installation costs. TEC Solutions offers exactly that with CyberLock, combining smart key management and electronic access control across facilities, equipment, and remote…

Zero trust is the foundation of modern security strategy. Most organizations today focus on identity providers, MFA, and network segmentation. But one critical area is often overlooked: physical access control. True zero trust must include physical spaces. Without it, any door or cabinet becomes an unmonitored point of failure. CyberLock solves that problem by applying…

Most labs have a card reader at the front door—but the real security risk is what happens after someone walks through it. Labs store high-value assets, regulated materials, critical samples, and equipment. Federal regulations from agencies like the DEA, CDC, DHS, and USDA require far more than basic entry-level protection. That’s where Secure Lab Access…

Data centers are only as secure as their weakest access point — and more often than not, that’s the server cabinet. While many facilities rely on perimeter defense and room-level controls, these strategies aren’t enough to protect against insider threats, operational errors, or compliance gaps. That’s where RBAC access control becomes essential. Perimeter fencing, badge-controlled…
